Literacy Prevention Assessment Packages.

We need a day (around 4.5 hours) in each Prep or Year 1 classroom (average 28 children) to assess EVERY individual child. We will then give you a report outlining each child’s current level of ability and and where there are gaps in their literacy development. We will identify which children need specific work (eg with blending, auditory processing etc) to prevent literacy failure- and can put together specific lesson plans if you wish.

We will identify the problems a child is likely to have from day 1 of Prep!

This approach will save you thousands of dollars in additional support- not only within literacy but also behaviour management as the two are so interlinked. We will help you prevent problems occuring in the first place and offer follow up support where required.

Teachers cannot be specialists in all aspects of the curriculum - and do not have the time to take each child out to undertake specific testing. Let us help! We are specialists in early literacy development and will give you the information and resources to improve your literacy results across the school. Assessments can take place at any time of the year.

Prices range from $875 per class including individual child reports and recommendations for children where there are indications that they will be 1 of the 5 children within QLD currently not reading and spelling at the expected level by 10. We can give you the information to make sure that doesnt happen within your school. We can help you ensure that all children are reading and spelling with confidence before the end of Year 2.

Assessments and Professional Development Workshops are led by Read Australia™ Director Emma Hartnell-Baker BEd Hons, MA Special Educational Needs. Emma is an accredited Jolly Phonics Training Provider- also known as The Child Listener™ for her work within the area of child and teenage behaviour management. Within the UK she was appointed by the UK Government as an OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education) Inspector- assessing childcare and early years education. She is passionate about children and in being a part of raising standards of literacy across Australia using a PREVENTATIVE approach.

Read Australia™ will be creating a team of Assessors (qualified teachers trained by Read Australia™) to offer this service across Australia. Email us to express an interest.

Also ask about Jolly Phonics training if you would like to use a specific synthetic phonics program and develop a whole school approach. We offer the only Accredited Jolly Phonics Training based within QLD
